Twanna “T-Fay” Dewdney is a beacon of resilience, service, and purpose whose life story embodies the spirit of this women’s award. A proud Winter Haven native, Polk State Distinguished Alumna, business owner, and community activist, T-Fay has transformed personal adversity into a lifelong mission to uplift others.

After early setbacks and a rare medical crisis that temporarily left her blind, T-Fay rebuilt her life with unwavering faith and strength. She opened Salon Ashanti in 2004, creating far more than a successful business — she built a sanctuary of dignity, encouragement, and hope for the Florence Villa community. Her passion for service expanded into health advocacy after losing a cousin to AIDS. Today, T-Fay is Polk County’s only licensed HIV/AIDS counselor operating from a privately owned business, providing free and confidential testing, education, and compassionate guidance.

Through initiatives like Project Park Bench, she has mobilized the community to meet the needs of the homeless, women in local jails, and children in need. A two-time Polk State graduate, T-Fay continues to lead with purpose, faith, and unshakeable compassion. Her life reminds us that legacy is not defined by perfection, but by how fiercely we serve others.
