Ananis Makar, Esq. (Plant City) is the founder and principal attorney of The Makar Law Firm, specializing in U.S. immigration law. Born to Egyptian and Puerto Rican parents, she grew up in both PuertoRico and Egypt before moving to Florida. Makar earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tampa and her Juris Doctorate from Florida A&M College of Law. In 2015 Attorney Makar founded the Makar Law Firm dedicated to Immigration law. As an immigration attorney, Makar has assisted countless women and families in navigating the complexities of U.S. immigration law, helping them achieve stability and security. In 2018, Anan is Makar served as an adjunct professor at Florida A&M College of Law, where she has influenced future generations of attorneys by teaching the importance of community involvement, ethics, and advocacy for justice. Her leadership in this role has inspired many young women to pursue law and community service careers, embodying the spirit of volunteerism and leadership.

Makar’s contributions extend far beyond her legal practice. She is currently participating in the 2024 FBI Citizens Academy and actively volunteers with Migrant Advocacy Programs, where she plays a key role in helping migrant students and their families access critical educational, health, and social services. Her dedication ensures that these families have the resources they need to successfully integrate and thrive in their new communities. In addition, Attorney Makar serves as Vice President of Tampa Hispanic Heritage Inc., an organization committed to promoting, preserving, and celebrating Hispanic culture. She is also an engaged member of the Hispanic Professional Women’s Association, where she mentors young students and female entrepreneurs. Through these leadership roles, Makar has had a profound impact on many young women, providing the guidance and support necessary for them to overcome challenges and succeed in their careers.
