Tallahassee, FL February 16, 2017) — The Florida Commission on the Status of Women (FCSW) announced today the appointment of Jennifer Canady to the FCSW by Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam.

Jennifer is the Director of the RISE Institute at Lakeland Christian School, focused on research, innovation, STEM learning, and entrepreneurship with 6th through 12th-grade students.

Jennifer graduated with a B.S. In Elementary Education from Florida State University and went on to earn a Master’s in Gifted Education from the University of South Florida. She was awarded the National Association for Gifted Children’s Masters’ and Specialists’ Award for Exceptional Contributions to Gifted Education in 2012.

Jennifer coaches the school’s FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team, oversees the Lakeland Christian School Center for Law and Public Policy, teaches Entrepreneurial Leadership and Experimental Science, and writes and administrates grants. She has been married to Florida Supreme Court Justice Charles T. Canady since 1997, and they have two daughters, Julia and Anna.
