Nicole B. Travis
Nicole B. Travis is on a mission to help professionals develop the skills and confidence needed to make impactful change in their respective communities. Trained as an architect, she has a unique background in community development, project management on multimillion-dollar development projects, strategic planning and business development which provides her with unique perspectives.
Nicole has almost two decades of public and private sector experience. Currently, she serves as the Director of Community & Economic Development for the Fastest Growing City in the US (Bloomberg) and the Hottest Housing Market in the US (Realtor.com): Lakeland, Florida. During her career at the City of Lakeland, Nicole led the development of an Economic Impact and Strategic Initiatives Plan that identified future downtown development opportunities that will yield more than $2 billion in economic impact and add 11,000 jobs to the community. She works tirelessly to challenge norms through innovative thinking, collaboration and effective communication. Nicole prides herself on expertly navigating unstable environments and emerging with a competitive advantage.
Prior to joining the City of Lakeland, Nicole worked as an Urban Designer for the City of Tampa and worked as a designer for two local architects. She has received numerous state and regional accolades for her work and most recently was recognized as the 2019 Tampa Bay Business Journal Woman of the Year. Nicole is a native of the US Virgin Islands and holds a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master of Business Administration. She is married to Shawn Travis and they have two daughters, Jordin and Madison.Back
