Marlynn R. Jones, Esquire

Marlynn R. Jones, Esquire is an advocate for diversity and inclusion and currently serves the University of North Florida as the Director of Equal Opportunity and Inclusion and Title IX Coordinator. In addition, she teaches in the sports management program and serves on several university committees. She is a member of Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Jones started her career in athletics administration and worked for over two decades in the areas of media relations, marketing, public relations, compliance, event management, sports supervision, operations, life skills, human resources, undergraduate admissions, and Title IX. She worked for seven NCAA Division I institutions, a Division I conference office, The Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games, and the Orange Bowl Committee, as well as serving as Chief of Staff for former Florida State Senator and Florida Gubernatorial Candidate, Daryl L. Jones, Esquire. She is the host of the podcast View from the Big Chair: Examining the Costs to be the Bo$$ where she interviews sports administration industry leaders about skill sets that are needed for advancement to senior-level positions within the industry. Episodes drop on Friday mornings.

Marlynn is a graduate of the University of North Carolina’s Journalism School, with a Master’s degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in business administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law where she was a member of Iron Arrow, the university’s highest honor, and was the recipient of the Roger Serino award presented to the most outstanding graduating 3L as voted on by the student body.

A native of Petersburg, VA, who grew up in Durham, NC, now calls Jacksonville home where she lives with her teenage daughter Trinity Faith and Bischon Hope.
