Laurie A. Pizzo
Laurie Pizzo was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Spring Hill, Florida 30 years ago with her parents. She has a diverse background of leadership positions during her career that include public sector, real estate, campaign and fundraising, and nonprofit work. She offers extensive knowledge of transportation, real estate, and campaign management.
She began her career as an entrepreneur in 1994 as a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant while caregiving for her mom for the next 10 years. Mary Kay afforded Laurie 3 Mary Kay cars and the opportunity to work from home. In keeping with her entrepreneurial spirit in 2004, Laurie became a Realtor and in her first year, she sold $3.5 million. While the real estate market can be volatile, she loves her work, particularly serving people and helping others fulfill their American dream.
She is very passionate about public service and advocacy whether it’s working with elected officials, participating in government programs or volunteering time for a cause. As an appointee of the Attorney General’s office, Laurie proudly served as Chair for two years of the Florida Commission on the Status of Women during her 2007-2015 tenure. She is most proud of the Commission’s education focus on teaching cyber safety to young adults and families, and those aging out of foster care, and the connection to sex trafficking from online perpetrators.
Laurie has also served on many boards including the Florida Realtors association’s Public Policy Executive Committee, Habitat for Humanity, American Cancer Society, and the Community Advisory Council for HCA Oak Hill Hospital. For many years, Laurie led political campaigns for candidates and was a successful strategist and fundraiser. In 2014, Laurie ran for Hernando County Commission narrowly losing the seat by less than 50 votes. Laurie came away with the belief that she must fail forward and continues today to work closely with the community she loves.
In addition to being a Realtor, Laurie continues her public service as the Statewide Property Management Administrator and Project Manager for Telecommunications for the Office of Right of Way, Florida Department of Transportation. She lives in Tallahassee and has a fabulous cat named Simba.Back
