Tallahassee, FL (January 18, 2017) — The Florida Commission on the Status of Women (FCSW) announced today the election of its 2017 Officers. “We welcome these new officers, who make up our 2017 executive committee. Each brings valuable perspectives from the areas of business, law, and public service, as well as a commitment to our mission of improving the well-being of Florida women and girls – and by extension, all Floridians,” says Kelly S. Sciba, Executive Director. The commission is a non-partisan body with a focus on raising awareness and celebrating the contributions and successes of all Floridians, along with providing a collaborate platform for those seeking information on issues that affect women, girls and their families in the state.

Officers elected for 2017 are: Commissioner Patti W. Hamilton of Tequesta – Chair, Commissioner Lady Dhyana Ziegler DCJ, Ph.D. of Tallahassee – Vice Chair, Commissioner Denise D. Dell-Powell of Orlando – Treasurer, Commissioner Elena Guardiola Spottswood of Key West – Secretary, Commissioner Nancy C. Acevedo of Winter Springs – Member at Large, Commissioner Deborah Cox Roush of Lithia – Member at Large.

“It is an honor to serve with such an outstanding group of women. We understand that each community in our state is unique, representing both rural and urban areas and that the ethnic and cultural diversity of the state’s population is varied. In each of these communities, there is valuable work being done to understand and assist the needs of women and girls unique to those communities, and we know that information should be shared and celebrated.  We will continue our work to achieve this in 2017.” says Commission Chair Patti W. Hamilton of Tequesta. “I’m looking forward to another productive and successful year.”
